Patient Advocate Programs at the ASCO Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology will be held May 31-June 4, 2019 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. The Meeting is a forum for cutting edge scientific and educational developments in oncology. It is a platform for the release of thousands of scientific abstracts-highly anticipated research news for many people, including patients, survivors, caregivers, and the general public.

Following is a brief overview of the opportunities available to patient advocates. We encourage you to share this information with any colleagues who may be involved in planning your organization's participation in the ASCO Annual Meeting.

The Conquer Cancer Patient Advocate Scholarship Program

The Conquer Cancer Patient Advocate Scholarship Program provides scholarships for patient advocates to attend ASCO-sponsored Symposia and the ASCO Annual Meeting to learn of important advances in their areas of interest. Scholarships help cover travel, hotel, and registration expenses and are based primarily on financial need, advocacy experience, and current advocacy activities and involvement. Find more information here.

The ASCO-Sponsored Patient Advocacy Booth is designed to give not-for-profit patient advocacy organizations an opportunity to promote their resources and services to the professional oncology community. This booth, which includes 32 patient advocacy organizations, provides a venue where participants can display materials and where patient advocates can meet, interact, and exchange information with meeting attendees. Organizations exhibiting in the ASCO-Sponsored Patient Advocacy Booth receive two complimentary session access passes that their exhibit staff may use to attend the non-ticketed meeting sessions. These passes may be picked up onsite, in the Patient Advocate Lounge, Room S402 of McCormick Place.

Individual Patient Advocacy Booths

Individual exhibit booths, also near the front of the Oncology Professionals Hall, are available to patient advocacy organizations at a reduced rate and granted on a first come-first served basis, based on eligibility criteria. Organizations exhibiting in an individual patient advocacy booth receive two complimentary session access passes that their exhibit staff may use to attend the non-ticketed meeting sessions. These passes may be picked up onsite, in the Patient Advocate Lounge, Room S402 of McCormick Place. To inquire about an individual booth, please contact [email protected].
